Coping with Rising Fuel Costs

Life, Miscellanous No Comments

For the majority of Americans, the cost of fuel is astonishing. With prices around $4.00 a gallon and  no price breaks in the future, I have been debating on how to cut down on costs.  I have looked into getting a motorcycle1 or a scooter2, but that would involve getting a different class on my driver’s license, higher insurance and another loan payment.

Since I work a little over a mile from work, I think that I will start riding my bike. It will be healthy for me and save on the wallet at the same time. The only problem that here in Illinois, it gets & snowy in the winter months and there is always the chance of rain in the summer months. I have the rain problem solved or so it will be solved.  A nice rain coat and pants will work for that, but another issue is sweat.  We don’t have showers at work and I am not the most healthy person nor am I too out of shape. I am either going to take a change of clothes or use baby wipes to “bathe” in the bathrooms.

Now it is just time that I have to deal with.  With me riding my bike, I will need to get ready for work earlier and also leave earlier since a bicycle takes a bit longer to travel down the road. I think that my plan to start riding will begin this week or next. After I start riding, I will realize that I will need to stop smoking but that is a different story.

As those who visit this site (and those who have in the past) might realize that I do no post on a regular basis. Alot of people who have “blogs” atempt to update on daily basis. There are many times that I have some wity story or some neat little tidbit of information to post, but I do not feel like writing. Maybe it is laziness or I just do not feel like writing. I’ll let you deceive.

New Years Resolutions

Life, Miscellanous No Comments

Each year most people come up with some resolution to start or end something that they may or may not be doing. I am not one of those people. Last night my wife and I thought about doing some things to better ourselves. I came up with a few things:

  • Quit smoking1
  • Save on our energy bills2
  • Eat healthier3

I am not saying that the things that I am planning on doing are limited to this nor will these ever get done. I am not setting a time frame that these need to be completed by since these are ongoing things. Everyone makes promises and most cannot keep the promise, so this is not a promise. I shall divulge my plans for this upcoming year in a later post.

Last Arrival

Life No Comments

The final box from Amazon arrived today. We were worring when the projected date for it’s delivery was between December 18th and the 24th. The shipment was sent out via the USPS mail system and with it coming that route, there is no way to check its status.

I had talked with our mail carrier ok Friday informing him that a package for Christmas should be arriving soon. He informed me that he had not seen anything yet on that day, but he would keep and eye out for it. On Saturday we still did not get any the package nor mail for that matter (atleast a good thing was no bills).

Today there was a knock at the door and when I checked, the was the package. It was right next to the door, but there was no mail carrier in sight to thank. I wish that I would had been able to thank him for his hard work getting the package here on time.
